Description: Taken from Dave Kehr's review @ The Chicago Reader: "Rene Clair established his reputation as France's foremost director of silent comedy with this 1927 film, based on a 19th-century farce. Albert Prejean plays the unfortunate hero, a bridegroom who must postpone his marriage when his horse takes a bite from a lady's straw hat; because the lady is in the wrong part of town, and with a handsome cavalry officer on her arm, a replacement for the hat must be found before her husband discovers it. Clair's talent would not survive long into the coming of sound, but at this point in his career he seems marvelously assured, creative, and playful."
